报告摘要:

Muon anomalous magnetic moment (muon g-2) is a fundamental physics quantity and is a key to build the foundation of the Standard Model. Previous experiment has shown a >3 sigma discrepancy  between the SM prediction and experimental value. The muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab aims to measure the muon anomalous magnetic moment with an unprecedented precision of 140 ppb. Together with recent improvements on the theory front, this measurement will help unravel the discrepancy expecting to discover a >5 sigma new physics effect. This talk presents an introduction and overview of the muon g-2 experiment.

报告人简介:

Professor Liang Li (Shanghai Jiao Tong University) graduated from Peking University in 1999 and received Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2005. He is an expert on experimental particle physics mostly working on accelerator based experiments including both energy frontier and intensity frontier. He has been involved with Muon g-2 experiment since the beginning and is a leader in the experiment to make the most precise measurement of Muon g-2.
