摘要:
Over the last two decades, a huge research effort has been directed towards understanding and utilizing optical phenomena associated with surface plasmons in metal nanostructures. Most, if not all, of these applications are based on the enormous spectral tunability [1] and electromagnetic field enhancement provided by spatially localized surface plasmons [2]. I will try to give a background and overview of our recent activities in this field. Topics that will be discussed include nanoplasmonic approaches to molecular analysis based on refractive index contrast [3] and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) [4]; Fano resonances and associated perfect absorption and polarization conversion effects in plasmonic metasurfaces [5] and optical manipulation and ultrafast rotation of plasmonic particles in solution [6].
报告人简介:Mikael Kall is Professor of Physics and Deputy Dean at the Department of AppliedPhysics, Chalmers University of Technology, Goteborg, Sweden. He received his PhD degree in 1995 for work on Raman scattering from high-Tc superconductors. After a postdoc in Denmark, he obtained an assistant professor position at Chalmers, wherehe started to work with surface-enhanced Raman scattering from single molecules together with two young bright PhD students, Hongxing Xu and Erik Bjerneld. He has since then contributed to many areas of fundamental and applied plasmonics and nanooptics, for example biomolecular plasmonic sensing, optical manipulation of plasmonic nanoparticles, directional plasmonic antennas, properties of chiral metasurfacesetc. He has received several prestigious awards, e.g. from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research.
